Peanut Butter Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter
  • 2 (1oz) semi-sweet baking chocolate squares
  • 1/2 c creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 c white sugar
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 c butter
  • 2/3 c creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 c powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 c lite whipped topping, thawed

Preparation steps

  • Preheat the oven to 325F, grease a 9x9 baking pan.
  • Melt the butter and chocolate together over low heat.
  • Transfer to mixer and blend with peanut butter and sugars on med-low speed until smooth.
  • Beat egg with vanilla and add to mixture.
  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the sugar mixture.
  • Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 35 minutes in preheated oven, or until firm.
  • TOPPING: blend together the butter, peanut butter, vanilla, and sugar. Gently mix in the whipped topping by hand. Refrigerate until brownies have cooked and cooled.
  • Spread topping onto brownies and cut into bars.
